To me, it looks less like lava and more like space gone apocalyptic; all exploding stars black holes. Either way, it's an engaging composition.

I agree with your assessment. Some elements are much more 'spacelike' than 'lavalike,' and I personally think that the 'fire' could be more liquid. This was mainly an experiment with 3d blurs on the 'painted' style of some of my other fractals.

While your experiment may not have yielded the results you were aiming for, I would still consider it a success. :]

Very true; art is subjective, and just because I'm not entirely satisfied with how a piece looks doesn't mean someone else doesn't like it. That is a viewpoint I don't often consider!

I can understand that; I'm regularly my own harshest critic, heh.

Hah, I suppose it also gives us a drive to push the limits of what we can do. More exploration, more experimentation, looking for bigger and better things...

Looking at your photography, find myself captivated by one or more of five elements: the way you present lighting, contrast, texture, movement, and portray depth. I suppose it is partly due to my avid love of those particular elements, and my experimentation with them in pieces such as this one. /How/ you chose to present them separated themselves from other pictures with similar elements, and I find them a source of creativity and inspiration, despite you possibly looking at them with a critical eye.

Indeed; and thank-you for your support, it's appreciated.

The blurs make it seem as though it's raining, which makes for a neat effect when paired with the lava :b

I love the strong contrast and power behind this piece. The reds blending with the blacks makes a strong lava feel. Good job.

Thank you very much :) I wanted to get the feeling of lava flowing about; however I feel I might have gone too strong on the sideways blurs...
