Legendary Vigilance by ChaosFissure Legendary Vigilance by ChaosFissure
"It has seen the rise and fall of numerous empires, and has mapped the greatest landscapes and most obscure landmarks ten times over.  It knows the legends of earth, skies, and seas, and is an invaluable asset to the guardians of these realms.  Yet here it has revealed itself, looking at you with a curious and puzzled expression."

So, sometimes my ambition gets the better of me.

^ That thing is cool and all, but I always wanted to build a face with it.  The eyeball took multiple days to create, and adapting it into this piece of artwork took over a week as well, and over 100 different save files (normally I have ~4-5 per fractal).

Sure, it's not perfect, and I had multiple moments where I wondered why the heck I was trying to add a face to the eye, but in the end I'm happy with what I accomplished.

I'm glad you enjoy it! The more I look at it, however, the more I notice elements that still unsettle me...XD

While it was a good exercise in trying to build something complicated, it doesn't impress me as much as the dragon eye. This is where learning how to digital paint and do mixed media with fractals could probably benefit me greatly...

I'ma await new mixed media works with anticipation :D

Beautiful work! Over 100 save files? You have way more patience than me!:D

Seven days of work, at least :p

Lots of the save files were Xaos passes - I have a Python script to make Xaos layering easier in Chaotica. I use many self-contained loops for various segments of the eye (reflections), the structure around the eye, the and the background.

 You talked about stuff I don't even understand there! I love my fractals but have only learned 'surface' details of several programs. Patience is definitely a virtue with them :)

It looks a lot better when you see the higher resolution picture. I didn't say before, but that feathery-substance looks very pleasing to the eye. Nice job on that texture. :D

The feathery textures were both really fun to work with and really annoying to retain.

The major struggle through this was the nonlinear way shapes had to propagate through the image -- which made filling in texture harder, since it was all too easy to turn the head into a mess of lines or change the directionality of the feathers into something strange.

The birb is finally here ! :dummy: It looks amazing hehe, and the beak turned out well. i like the patterns on its lower part. those are tiny and make it look quite "royal" (golden vibes and all).

You worked hard, and it turned out amazing :D hehe

Thank you! Although I'm happy with what I accomplished, I'm glad it's over XD

This looks so cool!  I like the red/blue contrast with the soft lights in the backround.  I feel like it could be the lights of a city.  : )

I see a phoenix, so I'd say it's you, but you're not the only person who has said that. XD It's substantially less that way than it was earlier.
